The SANITEX is part of the Togni Group of industries. It all started when Antonio Togni immigrated from Bergamo, Italy to Brazil in 1892, and settled en the village of Poços de Caldas (“Hot Springs”), 150 miles due north of the city of São Paulo. Antonio strived hard to support a growing family. He started out in 1916, by making common bricks from local clays for building houses and small businesses in the flourishing village.

His business grew and in 1954, two sons began producing refractory material – bricks and special shapes – to retain high temperatures in furnaces and kilns and ovens. Today Togni Refractories is the third largest producer in that field in Brazil and remains in the hands of first and second generation descendants of Antonio.

The SANITEX, owned by one of Antonio's sons and two grand-daughters, produces in a new modern plant a line of sanitary chinaware – toilets, sinks, bidets and wash basins. The decades spent in the quest of top quality products by the family are reflected in the excellence of Sanitex's Prima Collection of chinaware.

And all has taken place in that Brazilian village, now grown too, nestled in a beautiful mountain setting and blessed with mineral water springs and a cool climate.
